My life’s desire, is to assist people to become Christians who wholeheartedly seek to develop intimacy with God. Our world needs people willing and wanting to be guided and directed by their faith. My heart is to prepare and support people on this journey.

What made the difference for me?

Sitting at the feet of Jesus…that’s it in its simplest form. When I finally learned sitting at His feet was the only thing Jesus said was worth being concerned about (Luke 10:38-42), I finally stopped operating under my own power and started to let God work through me. Sitting at His feet has freed me up to allow Him to accomplish all He has promised in His Word for my life and the ministry.

Fun Facts About Me

I love to cook! My interest in cooking began when as a teenager I worked as a cook at a smorgasbord restaurant. Besides developing a passion for cooking during that era of my life, I also developed a passion for a certain young lady who was a coworker of mine at that restaurant. My restaurant coworker eventually became my wife, Becka! God had great plans for us way back then, to feed the bodies of retreat guests, as He feeds their souls.

Other fun facts about me include doing a prayer journey across the USA on a tandem bike with my wife. Becka and I still enjoying riding our tandem bike…on much shorter journeys!

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Ephesians 3:20-21. where Paul is giving a blessing of encouragement to the Ephesians…

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!”

My Passion

To encourage others to pursue “asking and imagining” what God can do through them (Eph. 3:20) because God can’t do “immeasurably more” if we don’t ask or imagine.

My Journey

I have seen God do some amazing things, but I’m convinced there are many things He’s done that I’ve missed because I had my focus on other things than Him. I know and have learned through experience, the more intently (and intentionally) I focus on Him, the more my eyes are open to the wonders of God everyday.

Fun Facts About Me

I get really jazzed about nature! The colors, textures, and designs that God created for our pleasure in this world, just blow me away! This translates into my passion for flower gardening and creating sacred spaces for our guests at the Inn to meet God. God is so amazing in the ways He designed us for His good purposes!

Besides my love for nature, I dearly love spending time with our family. We’ve been blessed with a son and wife, a daughter and husband, and 8 wonderful grandchildren.

Sometimes people are in the midst of great challenges, sometimes frustrating family situations, and other times people are looking for help to find a more spiritually satisfying experience in their walk with God. If you find yourself in one of these life situations then I would enjoy the opportunity to come alongside you in your journey during your time of retreat.

I frequently use the Enneagram, a personality assessment tool with retreat guests as a means of helping them gain a better understanding of themselves and how they relate to others. Click here to learn more.

Getting to Know Me

I have spent my adult life serving and caring for others.  My work as a pastor, counselor, mentor and adviser has uniquely equipped me to help others through life challenges.

I received my training in spiritual direction through Sustainable Faith, an organization with more than 20 training sites around North America and Europe.

Fun Facts About Me

I am a lifelong runner and hiker. I enjoy coffee with friends. I’m married to Diane and have five kids, with the two youngest being adopted from Congo. My favorite authors are Wendell Berry, Eugene Peterson, Malcolm Guite, and Os Guinness.
